What sets Magnolia Pancake Haus apart from other breakfast spots?

I believe in the commitment that we have to our core values and our mission statement. We have five core values that we live by and try to make sure that every action we do fits them. I also think our longevity with our team members allows us to excel. We have many team members who have been with us for 5, 10, and 12 years.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The different challenges that come daily and the ability to see growth in the team members we have. We have had people who came on board as a dishwasher work their way onto the line and into a chef position, same with servers which become managers. 

What’s your favorite dish on the menu?

The sweet dish is the Pfannekuchen. A savory dish is a bit more complicated- probably our corned beef hash- no one compares. 

What career path led you to where you are today?

I started working at the restaurant when I was 12 years old, and from the beginning, my parents always told me they didn’t want me to feel obligated to take it over. I ended up getting my degree in civil engineering with my MBA. I worked for a GC for six years before returning to the restaurant. I believe that path helped me immensely by allowing me to explore another passion of mine.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Your life will never be balanced; it is cyclical. Sometimes you’ll be overwhelmed with so many things that you feel like you are lacking in everything, but it will always come back. 

What do you do to relax outside of work?

Hit the gym, put on some solid rock, and lift some weights.
