Audicles Hearing Services is excited to announce our partnership with The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts to bring Auracast™ Broadcast Audio technology to theater patrons. Following the completion of the final installation in August, The Tobin Center is now one of the most accessible performing arts venues in Central Texas for Individuals with hearing loss.
For years, theaters have offered assistive listening devices to help patrons enjoy live performances. These systems, typically checked out at a service desk, use headsets to deliver the performance audio directly to the listener. While helpful, they have not always worked well for people who wear hearing aids or cochlear implants. In many cases, people had to remove their personal hearing devices in order to use the theater headset – setting aside the high-quality hearing technology they had invested thousands of dollars in just to hear the performance more clearly through a direct stream.
Auracast™ Broadcast Audio is the next generation of assistive listening technology. Using advanced wireless transmission, a single sound source can broadcast directly to multiple compatible devices with exceptional clarity and reliability. Unlike traditional assistive listening systems, Auracast allows users with compatible hearing aids or cochlear implants to connect directly to the venue’s audio system, streaming the performance straight into their personal hearing devices. This direct connection eliminates the need to remove hearing aids or wear a separate headset, creating a comfortable, seamless, and personalized listening experience. For patrons who do not have Auracast -compatible hearing aids, traditional assistive listening headsets will still be available.
