EARLY DETECTION CAN
HELP SAVE LIVES

IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT THE PINK

IT'S RACE TIME!

Make plans to join your family and friends at the 11th annual Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure® scheduled Saturday, March 29, 2008. Participants across our community from all walks of life are lacing up for the largest 5K run/walk in Bexar County.

Please join us as we remember lives lost to breast cancer, celebrate those who are surviving the battle and honor families and friends for their support. Last year, the 10th annual Race attracted more than 27,000 participants, including 1,400 survivors. For the fourth consecutive year, Race raised more than $1 million for the continued fight to end breast cancer.

Everyone has unique reasons for participating in Race. In this special section, learn how you can make a significant difference right here in San Antonio. Join the fight by registering for the 2008 Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure®. Visit www.komensanantonio.org, pick up a brochure at your San Antonio area H-E-B, or fill out the enclosed registration form.

Your support will bring us one step closer to finding the cure. We look forward to seeing you on March 29!

Dear Friends,

Susan G. Komen for the Cure began in 1982 as a promise between Nancy G. Brinker and her sister Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. Today, Komen is an international organization funding ground breaking breast cancer research and scientific programs around the world.

The San Antonio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure was established in 1997. With community support, the Affiliate has raised more than $7 million. Seventy-five percent funds local nonprofit programs that provide vital breast cancer screening, treatment and education services in Bexar County. The remaining 25 percent supports international breast cancer research through the Komen Award and Research Grant Program.

Our promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. With your help, Komen San Antonio Affiliate will continue toserve as a resource for those seeking opportunities for screening and treatment, raise awareness and educate the community about the benefits of early detection in the fight to end breast cancer.
